17 syllables

I stole this idea
Write a brand new haiku
Winner gets dinner (maybe)

There are a few rules
All haiku forms are O.K.
Funny or somber

Get ready, set, go
Contest ends when I say so
Have good luck, poets

Philadelphia
The city that I live in
Has five syllables

Did I win dinner?
That would be great if I won
And we ate cheesesteaks

Everyone else should boycott the contest so that Adina is automatically the winner and then Tom will have to take a trip the Land of Cheesesteaks.

Thief! Thief! Thief! Thief! Thief!
You stole my haiku idea
Endicott - you suck.

ITS NOT YOUR IDEA!

...I stole it from amalah :)

you still stole it!!!!

... and my god how many people are using haiku in their blogs?

Tom said...

Not a haiku theif.
No way. I didn't steal it.
I am innocent.

i win this contest
i think, since lindsay said thief
five times in a row

tom's poem was good but
he can't win his own contest
dinner for just one

(you might think that poem
has more than one syllable
but it can be one)

and another thing
donny, thanks for the support
thanks for boycotting

when tom's in philly
i will save you a cheesesteak
or eat it for you

so what is the word
cheesesteaks in philly with me?
we have a great couch

love, Adina L.
(The "L" stands for my last name
which means "love of man")

I would just like to point out that no one can be a haiku "theif" because "theif" is not a word.

One can, however, be a haiku THIEF.

Ah, spelling and grammar police.

yes, thank you, I KNOW it was spelled incorrectly. everybody KNEW it was spelled incorrectly. but, you're the only one who chose to mock and ridicule. for shame.

Also, adina, this isn't over. MANY MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST.

(please?)

but i did nine haikus. do you really NOT want to come to philly? it is a lot of fun (see stanza one). and it's looking like no one else is participating except me and linds, and i've already mentioned the fatal flaw of lindsay's haiku (no offense).

plus, i'm an english major. if i don't win a poetry contest, then what good am i?
