Trade date plus one

Monday morning. Welcome back.

I was here until about eleven on friday night, then everybody went out drinking at a bar just down the block. Then I went home.
I had had big plans for saturday, but it was rainy and I didn't want to get my nice new shoes wet or muddy. So instead of going out I stayed inside and watched eight hours of gilmore girls on abc family while reading that book that I'm now reading.
After eight hours of tv we ordered pizza, then a while after that my brother and I drove in to visit my mom at the hospital and bring her pizza.
We ordered another pizza on the way home and ate it while we watched snl. It was a repeat, the one with Finesse Mitchell playing Morgan Freeman on Weekend Update "No more 'Get busy livin' or get busy dyin,' I just want to get busy."
Sunday I slept until one (again) and sat around and watched television (go sox) and sat around. I don't think I went outside all weekend except to pick up the pizzas. That's a pretty good weekend.
It sort of averages out, once it's not raining we'll all be outside in the yard playing wiffleball or home run derby or off the steps or run the bases or kickball or street hockey or tennis or hide and seek or something, we'll be outside for sixteen, eighteen hours at a time. So it'll all average out. Which reminds me, I should get the West Wing season four on dvd - for the next rainy weekend.

tom i didn't even bother reading the rest of your blog after I saw that you watched 8 hours of gilmore girls. THAT IS MY FAVORITE SHOW IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. season three is coming out on DVD TOMORROW. I already have it on the top of my queue on netflix. what season did you watch? what is going on? i don't have any television cable (not even basic) so I only get to watch GG when someone tapes it for me or when I am at my parents. READ THIS NEXT SECTION CAREFULLY TOM. next time there is marathon gilmore girls on, will you tape it for me? preferably season 4 or 5 or 6 (is there is a 6 yet?). in return, I will comment in EVERY SINGLE ONLY OF YOUR BLOG ENTRIES. i'm not joking. I love GG. almost more than I love Dan. don't tell Dan.

I won't tell dan. I can't tape it for you I no longer have a vcr and do not yet have a tivo or dvr. it was a marathon (12 hours I think I caught the last eight) and I believe it was a viewer's choice sort of thing, since it skipped aroudn a log (and actually for most of it was going backwards...like the first few were rory in college then back to her going to college then back to her in hs then fast forward again. there were three different luke's girlfriends, taylor had put in his stupid candy shoppe in one episode and it hadn't happened yet in the next, suki had her baby, and then hadn't yet, there was dyed korean hair and christian college applications, jess hooking up with a snotty girl who worked in the beauty supply store, lots and lots and lots of fights with the grandmother, and the last episode I saw was grandad and grandad's old boss agreeing to kick grandad's old boss's son (who was dating grandad's daughter at the time) out of the business! treachery and back-stabbing insurancemen.

don't worry I won't tell dan.

it takes a real man to admit to watching gilmore girls. the only other man i know who willingly admits to watching it is - adina's dad.

adina - i have tivo. i will download all the gg's to your heart's content. however i do not have a dvd burner. you will have to watch on your computer.

damn you rosy, stealing adina's comments with tivo.

and yes. I am a real man:

P-@ arrgh.

rosy, I don't know what tivo is but i would be willing to watch gilmore girls on the side of the highway, in the mud, at night, on my cell phone. i seriously love everything about that show.

and boy does my dad love gilmore girls. sometimes, when he tapes episodes "for me" he won't let me take the tapes because he didn't get to watch them A SECOND TIME. I am my father's daughter. we love the banter.

tom, arrgh.

new Gilmore tonight...Adina, I guess you don't love the show enough to get cable =) or just the WB...

Felecia, you have no heart.

I LOVE MY COMMUNITY MORE THAN GILMORE GIRLS. is it sad that i have to say it out loud for it to be true?

Anonymous said...

adina, having cable and loving your community are not mutually exclusive. my cable provider has 3 different channels promoting ONLY community events and news and i'm pretty sure my parents' cable provider does too. besides, i don't think gilmore girls is on cable, since i can get episodes here in toronto.

tom - sorry i didn't mean to steal adina's comments, only that this was a medium in which i could relay the message. under no circumstances would i ever admit in my own blog that i watch gilmore girls. i am a closeted fan.

ok. gilmore girls is a WB show. but the reruns are on cable (abc family) there should be no confusion. felecia, you're right. you're also Snake from Escape from New York P-| and you have an eyepatch. the banter is super, but also both the gilmore girls are cute. real cute. esp. college age gilmore girl (also seen in Sin City now playing everywhere)

an apropos gilmore girls epilogue:

tonight at dinner i saw the actor who plays christopher, rory's dad. cute but scruffy. i screamed, "oh my god, there's rory's dad!" in the middle of the restaurant and revealed my closeted tv show addiction to my coworkers and hurriedly ran out the door.

everybody else out there thinks it's way past time for luke to just get rid of the hat, right?

I think I might be in love with you for liking Gilmore Girls. Although you didn't say you like it, but a marathon watch does have to indicate some level of interest, right? That, or you lost the remote.

It just indicates exacty how lazy Tom is.

I LOVE GILMORE GIRLS.

There, I said it.

look at all these gilmore girl emails! i am not the only one. i am glad this has become a watering hole for gilmore girls fans.

some clarifications - i don't have any television reception whatsoever. felecia can attest to this - i only have a tv. no ABC NBC WB no nothing. just me and my DVD collections (which consists of Gilmore Girls Season 1 and 2, Golden Girls season 1, and the Critic Season 1.)

rosy it is true having cable and building community are not necessarily related. But they might be.

also i cannot believe you saw christopher at dinner. how did he end up in canada? i love him.

adina, I love your side-of-the-road comment more and more each time I read through this string.

and kelly/lori, yes I am lazy, but that does not preclude a love for gilmore girls. also, lori, I'm way too young for you.

and I agree with anon. way past time for luke to ditch the hat.
